The Discount Group: Israel Discount Bank and Mercantile Bank – announces the establishment of Keren Or – Long-term Fund for Israel’s Traumatized Children. The group has pledged NIS 50 million ($12.5 million) to launch this Fund. We are turning to our Friends around the world to help us raise an additional $12.5 million.
The Fund aims to reach children most in need, ages 10-18, who live across the Israeli Perimeter Communities of Gaza that were destroyed, and the surrounding cities of Sderot, Ofakim and Netivot that was viciously attacked.
These children are Israel’s future. They now face a world in which many have lost parents and loved ones, lost homes and lost their feeling of personal security. It is a frightening and uncertain world for them.
It is up to us to ensure that they survive this heartbreaking time. That they are able to heal and to eventually thrive, with the promise of a better future.

The Heznek L’Atid nonprofit organization will operate the Fund on the ground. Discount has been working with Heznek since 2005 to serve educational and social needs of vulnerable, marginalized and at-risk children and youth from the geosocial periphery.
